Due to the specific nature of the TIG welding process, it requires not only precise current control but also precise control of the high-frequency (HF) oscillator (for non-contact arc ignition) and the argon shielding gas circuit. When a fault occurs, it usually manifests as an intuitive physical phenomenon, such as: no “hissing” HF sound when pressing the torch switch, no gas output, or uncontrollable current. I. Expert Maintenance Experience: Troubleshooting Key Components of MR315T

When troubleshooting the MR315T, maintenance personnel must be familiar with the following core hardware components, as they are the primary culprits for most faults:

  • C0029P & C0029V (Core Control Boards): This is the “brain” of the MR315T. Complex issues like uncontrollable current, messed up timing sequences, or missing HF ignition are mostly related to the aging or damage of these two mainboards.
  • HF Generation Circuit (K5374B, etc.): The soul of the TIG welder. If the discharge gap is dirty or the HF board is damaged, it will directly cause the failure of non-contact arc ignition.
  • ⚠️ High Voltage Shock Warning: The HF arc ignition voltage inside a TIG welder reaches several thousand volts! When opening the chassis to inspect the HF circuit, you must completely disconnect the power. It is strictly forbidden to touch internal HF components while powered on!

Phenomenon 7: No HF Spark Between Electrode and Workpiece Arc Ignition Control Fault

This is the most common TIG fault; pressing the torch switch fails to generate the “hissing” non-contact ignition arc.

Official Countermeasure:
If there is a sparking sound inside but no spark at the torch head: Check if the tungsten electrode is severely burnt white/oxidized, or if the HF is leaking/short-circuiting at the SMAW (stick) electrode holder terminal.
If there is absolutely no sparking sound inside: Check if the control loop or HF circuit (C0029V / K5374B) is damaged.
If the AC contactor (MSI) does not engage: Check the control circuit or the Hall sensor CT1.
If MSI engages but there is no HF: Check for phase loss in the main circuit or if the factory input voltage is too low.

Phenomenon 8: HF is Normal but Arc Fails to Start (Requires Scratching) Process Parameter Fault

The “hissing” HF sound can be heard, but the arc fails to maintain; you must scratch the workpiece with the tungsten needle to weld.

Official Countermeasure: This is not a major machine fault. The main reasons are: the tungsten electrode is severely whitened/oxidized, the chosen tungsten diameter is too thick, or the initial/starting current is set too high causing instant burn-off.

Phenomenon 5 & 6: Abnormal Gas Output (No Gas / Continuous Leaking) Shielding Gas Fault

No Gas Flow: First set the panel gas switch S5 to the “Check” position. If there is still no gas, troubleshoot the cylinder valve, check if the gas solenoid valve is burnt out, and inspect the C0029V control board; if there is gas in “Check” mode but no gas when pressing the torch switch, the torch switch or control wire is broken.

Continuous Leaking: Check if the S5 switch was mistakenly set to “Check” and not reset; if the switch is normal, the solenoid valve is jammed by impurities, or the C0029V control board has a short-circuit breakdown.

Phenomenon 9: Water-Cooled Torch is Unresponsive Water Cooling Protection Triggered

After connecting the water-cooled torch, the machine acts dead with no response when pressing the trigger.

Official Countermeasure: Observe the “Cooling Water Indicator L3” on the panel.
L3 is OFF: The machine has detected insufficient water pressure or reversed water supply/return hoses, triggering the low coolant protection. Please check the external water tank.
L3 is ON: Water supply is normal. You need to troubleshoot if the torch switch itself is damaged or if there is a C0029V control board fault.

Phenomenon 2: Welding Current Completely Uncontrollable Main Circuit / Control Fault

The current remains at maximum or minimum; adjusting the panel or remote control pendant knobs has no effect.

Official Countermeasure: 1. First, use a multimeter to check if the remote control pendant and its control cable are broken; 2. Check the control boards C0029P / C0029V; 3. Test if the Hall sensor CT1 and the core thyristor (SCR) modules SCR1/SCR2 are damaged or short-circuited.

Phenomenon 1, 3, 4: Indicator Alarms and Meter Abnormalities Comprehensive Status Fault

Main Power Indicator is OFF: Check switch S1, bulb PL1, auxiliary transformer T5, and measure if the distribution box is missing a phase.

Abnormal Indicator PL2 is ON (No Current): Indicates the machine is in a protective lockout state. This may be due to prolonged overload causing the thermal switch THP1 to trigger (needs 10 minutes to cool down), the cooling fan stopped running, or a C0029P mainboard fault.

Hall Sensor CT Abnormal Indication: If the ammeter DCA1 jumps erratically or is inaccurate, focus on checking the C0029V mainboard and the CT sensor itself.
