Troubleshooting ADP400 TIG Welder Faults & Alarms

In the field of industrial welding, the OTC DAIHEN ADP400 TIG welding machine is highly acclaimed for its stable arc ignition performance and outstanding welding quality. However, in long-term, high-intensity MAG/MIG and TIG welding environments, the equipment may occasionally experience abnormal conditions. To help welding engineers and equipment maintenance personnel quickly locate problems, we have compiled the following troubleshooting and resolution guide for common ADP400 faults.

I. ADP400 Core Troubleshooting Quick Reference Table

When your OTC ADP400 welder experiences a power trip, fails to strike an arc, or has an abnormal gas supply, please refer to the table below for preliminary fault diagnosis:

No. Fault Phenomenon Cause of Fault or Abnormality Troubleshooting Method
1 Main power switch trips Internal short circuit or overload in the equipment. If it cannot be powered on again, cut off the power immediately and contact the authorized agent.
2 Main power indicator (PL1) is OFF
  • Power switch ON, digital display ON: Indicator (PL1) bulb fault.
  • No display at all and fan not running: Distribution box switch not turned on, or input cable connection is loose.
Check indicator PL1; check the distribution box and input cable connection status.
3 Power switch ON, digital display shows nothing
  • PL1 is ON: Insufficient input voltage or power circuit fault.
Check the input voltage; check or replace the PCB3 circuit board.
4 No shielding gas flows when torch switch is pressed
  • No gas when pressing “Gas Check” key: Cylinder valve closed or insufficient pressure.
  • Gas flows when pressing “Gas Check” key: Torch switch cable is broken or plug has poor contact.
Open the gas valve and check pressure; check wires No. 160, 161, 168, and 169.
5 Continuous gas leaking “Gas Check” LED is ON and in a normally open state. Press the “Gas Check” button again to stop the gas check.
6 No high-frequency (HF) spark (between electrode and workpiece)
  • Discharge sound inside: Tungsten electrode is oxidized/whitened, or HF voltage is leaking.
  • No discharge sound inside: The connector of the HF generation circuit has fallen off.
Grind the tungsten electrode; correctly connect the torch and workpiece cables; check the PCB7 circuit board connector.
7 Generates HF spark but fails to strike an arc Electrode whitened, electrode too thick, current setting too low, inverter main circuit or control circuit fault. Grind the electrode and reset welding parameters; check the open-circuit voltage, contact professional maintenance or replace the PCB1/PCB2 board.
8 WCR relay continuously acting Hall sensor CT2 fault, or WCR circuit fault. Check the Hall sensor CT2; check or replace the PCB2 circuit board.

II. ADP400 Control Panel Common Alarm Codes Explanation

During daily use, if you see the following error alarm codes on the ADP400 control panel: E-010, E-100, E-200, E-300, E-310, E-500, E-600, E-710, E-751, E-9XX, this usually means the equipment has triggered its self-protection mechanism. We strongly recommend that you refer to the complete ADP400 Product Manual to obtain detailed meanings of the codes and their corresponding clearing methods.
